The series of commemorations for the 97th anniversary of Malang City has not ended. After holding a people's party by bringing in artists from the capital, an automotive championship in the form of road racing at the Simpang Balapan Jalan Ijen circuit, now the Malang City Government is also holding the East Java Mayor's Cup Wild Boar Hunting Competition. Athletes from the Indonesian Shooting Association (Perbakin) of Malang City were sent off by the administrative assistant for development, Friday (15/4) at 08.00 WIB from the front yard of Malang City Hall.

The Mayor Cup wild boar hunting competition is the second event, where the first event in 2010 was won by Hendro Herson from Perbakin Malang. At that time, Hendro won the weight category which reached 90,5 kg. While the most hunted category was won by Yudi K from Jember Regency who managed to shoot 7 boars.
According to the head of the competition organizer, Y. Sudarman, the boar hunting competition will last for 3 days. "The athletes will shoot boars in all forests in East Java other than protected forests. This competition is attended by 199 participants from East Java, and for Malang City and Regency, 55 athletes are departing today," he said.
Assistant for Development Administration of Malang City Government, Drs. Parmin, M.Si said, by holding this boar shooting competition, in addition to being an entertainment event for shooting athletes, it is also an event to channel their hobbies, and it is hoped that athletes can understand the seven ethics of hunting Perbakin. "In addition, this event is also one way or solution to overcome wild boar attacks that damage many residents' crops which result in damage to community agricultural land which results in a decrease in agricultural yields or residents' production results," he concluded.
