Festival Malang kembali (FMK) or Malang in the past will be held from May 19 to May 22 along Jalan Ijen, Malang City. Regarding the implementation of the annual agenda of Malang City, until now the preparation of the committee has reached 70 percent. One of the agendas that has been carried out by the committee is participant registration.
"The interest in Malang is very high again and the committee has received more than 1000 participants. Today (25/4) is the announcement of the participant selection, and from all the registrants, 500 participants will be taken," said the Head of the Malang City Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), Ida Ayu Made Wahyudi when met at Malang City Hall, Monday (25/4).
According to Ida, for 2011 the committee carries the theme Discovery Heritage, namely exploring cultural values during the Majapahit Kingdom era which are still preserved by the people of Malang. Everything that is displayed will be related to the culture of the Majapahit Kingdom, so that the public knows about the history of Majapahit," he said.
Ida further said that participants who passed the selection should follow the theme proposed by the committee, both in terms of booth design and what is being sold. "We will tighten the implementation rules for this year, meaning that participants must show the uniqueness of the past, such as clothing, hats, caps, food, and so on," continued the woman with shoulder-length hair.
Ida added, in last year's Malang Kembali event, the Disbudpar still found stands selling modern food in the form of pizza. "Actually, that is not allowed, because that food did not exist in the Majapahit era, but if it is traditional snacks, it already exists and is not a problem. That reason is what ultimately underlies the committee to tighten the implementation of Malang Kembali in 2011," he concluded. (say)
