In addition to Jalan Veteran, hundreds of students who are members of the National Student Executive Board (BEM Nas) also held a demonstration in front of the Malang City DPRD office. The demonstration was also in order to commemorate Anti-Corruption Day which falls today, December 9, 2011. The chaotic action resulted in casualties. The head of the back of the Head of Sabara Mapolresta Malang AKP Hendrik Purwono was injured after being hit with megaphone by the action participants.

Actually, the action took place in front of the Malang City DPRD building and went safely even though there was burning of used tires. In the action, the students gave speeches in turns. In addition, they also conveyed their demands. Among them are, to thoroughly investigate the Bank Century case that has not been resolved, Wisma Atlet, and the BLBI Case.
Demonstrators also urged the government to immediately resolve corruption issues in all sectors in this country. "We demand the KPK fulfill its promise to resolve corruption cases. President SBY-Boediono must step down from their positions. Because they are one of the causes of corruption cases in Indonesia. The most important thing is to sentence all corruptors to death," said Amrullah Alimubin, when met on the sidelines of the action, Friday (9/12).
When the protesters burned used tires, officers from the Malang Police Department immediately put out the fire, because it was considered dangerous. Not accepting the police's actions, the participants spontaneously blocked them. That was when a riot almost broke out between students and the police. However, the situation was immediately calmed down. The police still let the used tires burn in the middle of the road.
After burning used tires, the protesters immediately moved to the bus they were riding to the council building. When the protesters moved from in front of the council building, the police thought they would disperse. However, when they arrived in front of Malang City Hall, the protesters immediately moved into the city hall to take down the banner that was installed in the corner of the City Hall. The banner read 'Commemorate Anti-Corruption Day 2011. Brave, Honest, Great, Corruption, Clean. Without Corruption, Live Healthy and Enjoyable'.
The riot started after the students took down the banner, and one of the Satpol PP officers did not accept it. The banner that had been taken down was seized by a Satpol PP officer. The students did not accept it, and that's when the riot happened. The police were a little confused by the students' actions.
When the riot occurred, the police tried to calm and try to calm it down. When he was about to reconcile, and was in the middle of the crowd, suddenly the Head of Sabara Polresta Malang, AKP Hendrik Purwono received a punch from a protester who was using a Megaphone and hit his head on the back.
After it was discovered that he had been hit and AKP Hendrik's head continued to bleed, other officers immediately evacuated him from the crowd of students. To reporters, Hendrik said he had no problem with it. "We will not arrest the perpetrator, because we do not know who the perpetrator is clearly," he said.
If the police arrest students, he said, it is feared that they will be arrested by mistake. "Let's just make peace. It's over, and the action is also over. We choose to make peace, and the injuries are not that big," said Hendrik when asked by reporters, after the demonstrators dispersed. (say/dmb)
