Appointed, GOW Must Not Be Technological

No less than 26 women's organizations that are members of the Malang City Women's Organization Association (GOW) require their members to not be technologically illiterate (Gaptek). This was emphasized by Dra. Endang Christina Shofwan MM, after being inaugurated as the head of GOW Malang City at the City Hall, Tuesday (14/12/2011). The inauguration of the new head and management was carried out by the head of the PKK Malang City driving team, Mrs. Dra. Heri Puji Utami, M.AP.

Endang Christina Shofwan explained that what GOW members meant by not being technologically illiterate meant that they had to be able to follow technological developments, including the internet. Therefore, her party had prepared a training program plan for members to provide supplies and introduction to the virtual world. "Previously, we have provided training. But we will hold a second training so that members can master technology better," said Endang.

The wife of the Malang city secretary, Shofwan, added that the provision of technological knowledge was not without reason. Because GOW itself also produces products that must be marketed, and GOW can utilize the internet to promote these products to the public and market them at the same time. This means that GOW does not have to rely on the existence of stores to market products.

Likewise, GOW can take advantage of internet technology. They can also shop for goods via the internet. So, they don't have to bother taking the time to go to the store.

Meanwhile, the head of the PKK movement team, Mrs. Heri Puji Utami who is also a mentor in the GOW, said that the existence of GOW can elevate the status of women in Malang City. This can be achieved if women have intelligent thinking, broad knowledge, and are not technologically illiterate. "Women can show their love for the nation's culture and people's economy by utilizing technology," added the wife of Malang Mayor Peni Suparto. (say/dmb)
