Improving the quality of educators and midwives in Indonesia, STIKES Widyagama Husada Malang City continues to innovate. One of them is by holding a national training "Improving the Technical Ability of Midwives in the Implementation of Midwifery Care Standards", at the Pelangi Hotel, Thursday (15/12) to Sunday (18/12).

Present as speakers for the training were Chair I of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) Dr Emi Nurjasmin M.Kes, Head of Guidance and Evaluation Section of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Siti Romlah SKM MKM and Sri Poerwaningsih SKM M Kes (Head of the Sub Directorate of Service Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Health).
The head of the training, dr. Rudi Yugiantoro said that this training was attended by lecturers from Poltekes throughout Indonesia, midwives from private and state hospitals. This activity is a collaboration between STIKES Widyagama and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
"The aim of this training is to make midwives more competent in handling births," explained Rudi, Thursday (15/12).
According to Rudi, this training was intentionally aimed at midwife educators at Poltekes for a reason. By selecting educators, it is hoped that when they return from this training, the educators will be able to pass on the knowledge they have gained to the midwives they have trained.
Emi Nurjasmin said the still high mortality rate during childbirth in Indonesia is a challenge for midwives. So far, many people in Indonesia still trust traditional midwives when giving birth.
"So far, there have been many deaths in childbirth due to the late recognition of high risks in childbirth, therefore midwives must continue to improve their knowledge," said Emi.
With a composition of 4,6 million births every day in Indonesia, the latest data is 1 million handled by traditional healers, which is concerning. Therefore, in the future, the role of midwives must be further improved. (cah/dmb)
