So far, Malang City has always achieved MURI (Indonesian Record Museum) records for various things. Most recently, 2 weeks ago, Malang City broke the MURI record for free medical treatment attended by a thousand medical personnel and 20 thousand patients held on Jalan Besar Ijen. However, it seems that the record has not satisfied this educational city.

Malang City is already known throughout the country. So it is time for the city that also has the nickname of tourism city to be known at the world or international level. Tuesday (27/12) Malang City will break the world record in the Guinness Book World Records for the longest drum beating, which is for 121 hours.
If the previous record of 120 hours was held by an American, then from Tuesday (27/12) until the next week or precisely until January 1, 2012, Kunto Hartono will beat the drum for 121 hours in the yard of Malang City Hall. This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. Peni Suparto, M.AP to reporters.
"This is an extraordinary moment and if this record can be broken, then Malang City will be known throughout the world. Hopefully, Mr. Kunto can break this world record. Therefore, all parties must help make this event a success," added the number one politician in the Malang City Government.
Meanwhile, the drummer, Kunto Hartono when met admitted that he was ready to retake the world record that he had achieved, even though he had failed and could only beat the drums for 70 hours in 2007. "At that time there was a technical problem, namely a power outage, so the record-breaking could not be continued," he said.
For that time, said the long-haired and white man, all possibilities had been anticipated for the sake of breaking this record, including regarding electricity or other unexpected things that could happen. Likewise with physical preparation, Kunto admitted that he was physically and mentally prepared, because in addition to having done check up, he also often does exercises.
"I have done all the preparations and with the support of all parties, I am optimistic that I can achieve this record again. I also thank all parties who participated and made this event a success, especially the Mayor of Malang," concluded Kunto. (say/dmb)
