Based on the East Java Governor's Regulation Number 72 of 2012 concerning the minimum wage for districts/cities in East Java in 2013, the UMK for Malang City is set at IDR 1.340.300.
The amount increased by 18,4 percent, because the previous submission from Malang City was Rp 1.268.150. And at the UMK socialization event, today, Monday (03/12) in the city hall courtroom, it received harsh criticism from the SPSI of Malang City. SPSI considers that the UMK of Malang City does not meet the Decent Living Needs (KHL) of the community.
The statement was denied by the Acting Head of the Malang City Manpower and Social Service, Wahyu Santoso when met separately. According to him, the Malang City UMK is in accordance with the KHL of Malang City residents. "The decision has been determined by the Governor of East Java and cannot be changed, unless there is a burdensome lawsuit from various parties, such as the Wage Council or SPSI," he explained.
After this socialization, he said, his party will give time to understand the provisions of the Malang City UMK before the UMK is implemented on January 1, 2013. "We will give time until December 21, 2012 or 10 days before the implementation of the UMK," said Wahyu.
When asked whether there have been any companies in Malang City that pay their employees below the UMK, Wahyu admitted that there have been no official reports. "Actually, there is supervision from the company regarding the UMK, but usually it is only done once a year. If there are reports of violations of the UMK, then we will process them according to existing regulations," he explained.
In Malang City, he said, until now there are around 800 companies, both large and small. While the employees are approximately 60 thousand people. "That is according to data from the Malang City Disnakersos and can still change at any time," he said. (say/dmb)
