The increasingly rapid population growth rate in East Java and Malang City has received special attention from the Family Planning and Community Empowerment Agency (BKBPM). To prevent population growth from getting worse, a population coalition socialization was conducted in Malang City in 2012, at the Trio 2 Hotel, Malang City, Tuesday (4/12).
Present at this socialization, the Management of the East Java Population Coalition, Lutfi Agus Salim SKM and Humprey Aaron. In the socialization, the two speakers conveyed the importance of developing Human Resources (HR) which includes preventing population explosion, outside of physical development such as building buildings, roads and bridges.
Lutfi said, currently every day, from the data in Malang City, there are 38 people born. In the five sub-districts in this city, the productive age of its citizens is also large, so the opportunity for population growth is very large.
"The current population of Malang City is 820.243 people. This is already very large, because in the past Malang City was still cold because there were still many trees, now it is getting hotter, because many have turned into residential areas," explained Lutfi, Tuesday (4/12).
With that reality, currently it is necessary to strengthen the role of KB (Family Planning) to be able to suppress population growth in Malang City so that it can be controlled. Because, it turns out that not only in Malang City, in East Java, since 1998 until now, population growth has all experienced an upward trend.
The speaker from BKBPM East Java, Humprey Aron confirmed that according to data from BPS (Central Statistics Agency), the birth rate in East Java has indeed increased. If the family planning program is not handled properly, in the future in East Java and also Malang City there will be an increasingly uncontrolled increase in the population.
"If before 2000, the birth rate in East Java was 1,71%, now it has reached 2,01%. This is rarely exposed. Therefore, the role of family planning must be further improved," said Humprey.
What is concerning, according to Humprey, is that the huge population growth in East Java has not been balanced by adequate education. Where the percentage of education of East Java people who do not attend school reaches 30%, elementary school 32%, junior high school 16%, high school 16%, college 4%.
"It is time for human resource development in East Java to be given its own priority, because developing human resources is no less important than building bridges, buildings and roads," said Humprey.
Head of Family Empowerment and Welfare Division of BKBPM Malang City Dra. Wandayun Sri Alfiani M Ap said that currently BKBPM Malang City continues to actively conduct family planning socialization to prevent population growth and improve community welfare. Including by conducting Population Coalition Socialization in Malang City in 2012, at Hotel Trio 2. (cah/dmb)
