Typhoon Bhopa in the Philippines that killed 230 people and hundreds missing received special attention from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNBP). If the President of the Republic of Indonesia orders, the Eastern Region Disaster Management Rapid Response Unit (SFC-PB) must be ready to depart for the Philippines, Thursday (6/12).

Ensuring that the personnel to be deployed are ready for action, the SRC-PB Eastern Region held a Demo and Disaster Management Event at Rampal Field, Thursday (6/12). Involving elements of the TNI/Polri, PMI, Health, SAR Team, Kominfo, Basarnas, ESDM, BMKG, and various other volunteers.
The troop parade began with an explosion that destroyed the houses. The sudden incident caused many casualties, both human, animal and property.
Ensuring that assistance can be carried out quickly and accurately, all elements are involved, starting from sending health workers via planes and helicopters. Assistance using planes, ambulance assistance, to officers who evacuate victims carry out work according to their respective functions.
Deputy II for Emergency Response of BNPB Dody Ruswandi confirmed that if the president ordered BNPB to send volunteers to the Philippines, then the Eastern Region SRCPB is ready to go to the Philippines. As a commitment of ASEAN countries that they must be willing to help each other including when a disaster occurs.
"It depends on the situation in the Philippines, what is needed. What is clear is that SRC-PB currently has 550 core personnel and 1200 support personnel, has complete capabilities. Starting from health workers to rescue," explained Dody, Thursday (6/12).
By doing routine training, Dody emphasized, not only ready to help the Philippines SRC-PB is ready to overcome various disasters in Indonesia. Where for Indonesia the center is divided into two places, for the western Indonesia region in Jakarta while eastern Indonesia in Malang.
"Malang City has good infrastructure and terrain to hold training, therefore we are holding routine training this time in Malang City," explained Dody.
Through regular training, Dody said, it is hoped that SRC-PB can be more agile, whenever on duty when a disaster occurs. By continuing to add various operational support equipment for disaster management, currently SRC-PB Eastern Region is increasingly advanced.
From the support of good and trained Human Resources (HR), supported by adequate equipment, it is expected to further minimize the occurrence of victims during disasters. In order for everything to be more qualified, training after training must be carried out so that in working, SRC-PB is increasingly professional.
In disaster management, Dody admitted, it cannot be done alone by SRC-PB, but must also involve the government, society and various potentials. Therefore, all must unite in how to anticipate, prevent and act when a disaster occurs. (cah/dmb)
