When the interim replacement (PAW) due to the death of the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Association (PABBSI) Oetojo Sarjito who led Malang City has been answered. Officially, the East Java PABBSI Provincial Management (Pengprov) conducted the inauguration of PABBSI Malang City for the 2010-2014 period at Gajayana Stadium, Thursday (28/11).
In this PAW, the Treasurer of KONI Malang City, Drs. Imam Buchori, M.Si., was elected to replace Oetojo Sarjito. By being elected as the general chairman, Imam will lead PABBSI Malang City until 2014.
Imam said that the achievements of PABBSI Malang City, especially the weightlifting branch, have been good in East Java and national level. During the two Provincial Sports Weeks (Porprov) in Kediri and Madiun, weightlifting proved that it could consecutively become the overall champion.
"The challenges ahead are clearly getting tougher because the strength of weightlifting in East Java is currently more evenly distributed, therefore I need full support from PABBSI members, the people of Malang City to be able to bring this sport to continue to achieve even better achievements," explained Imam.
The daily chairman of PABBSI Pengprov Jatim, Jeffrey Tagore admitted that Malang City has always contributed outstanding lifters to East Java. Not only at the Porprov level, at the PON level and national level, the names of lifters from Malang City have always appeared.
If in the past, weightlifters from Malang City Muslimin could be East Java's mainstay, currently there are at least three Malang City lifters who give color to the East Java Weightlifting Training Center. The three are M. Sofyan, Mochamad Choirul Anwar and Okky Dwi.
"We hope that with the inauguration of the new management, PABBSI Malang City can continue to produce good lifters like when it was led by Pak Ucik (Oetojo Sardjito's nickname)," said Jeffry.
Head of the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Malang City, M. Subkhan, admitted that he was pleased with the inauguration of the PABBSI management of Malang City for the 20110-2014 period. With this inauguration, it is hoped that the management can immediately move quickly to prepare the best lifters who will appear in various championships, including the 2015 Banyuwangi Porprov.
"Kak Ucik's services are very great, therefore on behalf of the Malang City Government, on this occasion we express our deepest condolences. We hope that Kak Ucik's struggle so far can be continued by the new PABBSI management," said Subkhan. (cah/dmb)
