Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) Drs. Subari revealed that after conducting an evaluation with the traffic forum, the one-lane program was finally officially patented. To socialize the patenting of this program, both people who are against and for the establishment of one lane, will be socialized at the City Hall, Friday (6/12) at 13.00 WIB.

"After we conducted an evaluation, it was finally decided that the one-lane program would continue and must be secured," explained Subari, Thursday (5/12).

Subari added, although currently many people oppose it because it is considered that this program reduces the income of people around the road that is passed by one lane, this is not true. Because there is no connection between the smooth flow of traffic and the economy that is currently being fought for by several individuals who reject the implementation of one lane.

To support the implementation of one lane, Subari added that he will do a park pavement on Jl. Veteran so that the traffic lane will be wider. The vehicle lanes on Jl. Veteran which have been three, with the pavement are expected to become four lanes.

Head of Traffic Police of Malang Police, AKP Erwin Aras Genda, SH, SIK said, the implementation of one lane has proven effective in reducing congestion that has occurred on Jl. Panjaitan, Jl. Gajayana and MT Haryono. Therefore, this program must be fully supported.

"One way is a fixed price. In the short term, this program has proven to be able to solve the traffic congestion problem that has been happening in the Dinoyo area," explained Erwin.

For the long term, Erwin explained, there is no other choice but to widen the road so that Malang City is no longer congested. In accordance with what was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, currently it has been considered to widen the road which clearly requires larger funds.

Not only the determination of one lane was discussed, in the traffic forum meeting at Malang City Hall also discussed anticipation if March 2014, the Soekarno-Hatta bridge is dismantled. To anticipate that reality, in the near future a trial will be conducted to close the Soekarno-Hatta bridge.

"The trial closure of the Soekarno Hatta bridge must also be carried out in the near future, so that later when the bridge is really dismantled, Malang City will no longer be confused about how to deal with it," explained Erwin. (cah/dmb)
