To Solve Congestion, Roads Will Be Widened

Regarding the implementation of one-way lanes on Jalan Bogor, Jalan Veteran, Jalan Gajayan, MT Haryono to Jalan Mayjen Panjaitan, according to the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub), Drs. Subari, it is correct. According to him, the policy of the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton is correct, although at the beginning of its implementation there were many pros and cons and traffic congestion occurred.

"To continue to reduce congestion, it will be equipped with supporting infrastructure, such as road repairs, traffic signs and lane paving. The park on Jalan Veteran to the west will be narrowed from 7 meters to 3,5 meters. So that traffic flow can be smoother," said Subari, Thursday (5/12).

Subari added that the road widening will be continued to the east, so that it can be made into four lanes. And for Jalan Gajayana, it is possible to make it into two lanes. "Later we will coordinate with the Integrated Licensing Service Agency (BP2T) of Malang City in order to release/widen the road," he continued.

Subari further said, if the road is widened, it is possible that the width of Jalan Bogor and Panjaitan could reach 11 meters. Thus, the traffic flow will be smoother. "While the situation of Jalan Gajayana is different from Jalan Mayjen Panjaitan, it cannot be widened just like that, because it is no longer possible," he explained.

"We hope that residents living in the one-way lane implementation area can be patient and understand the mayor's policy. Sooner or later there will definitely be no traffic jams. Every program or policy, when it is first implemented, there will definitely be pros and cons. Things like that are common, and can happen anywhere," Subari emphasized. (say/dmb)
