In connection with one way traffic enforcement on Jalan Veteran and its surroundings, Malang City Government needs input from all parties, so that there are no pros and cons in the community. So far, an open-close system has been carried out. The results of the traffic forum meeting, Jalan Mayjen Panjaitan became 16 m and the river boundary 6 meters. However, it is difficult to implement because it requires large costs.

That was what was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub), Drs. Subari in a socialization event for the implementation of one-way lanes to residents, Friday (06/12) in the Malang City Hall courtroom. He added that this one-way system is more focused on reducing congestion around Brawijaya University (UB) Malang.
"Residents' complaints due to the implementation of this one-lane will be taken into consideration by us. However, we will still implement this one-lane, because this is the result of the traffic forum. But we will continue to improve the facilities, for example on Jalan Mayjen Panjaitan there are many damaged roads. We will also repave the sidewalks, so that the road is wider, including the park on the west side of Jalan Veteran or around UB approximately 15 meters," explained Subari.
So, he explained, the road widening is not along Jalan Veteran, as reported so far. Later, there will also be improvements to the sidewalk in front of Malang State University (UM) and will shift the position of the sidewalk. The reason is, there is heavy traffic there and many educational institutions. "The sidewalk at the intersection of Jalan Bogor will also be paved. In addition, we plan to open the UB entrance to the public, so that it can also reduce congestion," added Subari.
"The results of the interim discussion with the rectorate, only public transportation is allowed and passes through the campus. However, we will continue to approach, so that two-wheeled vehicles can also pass through this alternative road. We will continue to make various efforts, so that there is no congestion and the traffic flow can be untangled optimally," said Subari.
Furthermore, the man from Sumenep, Madura, said that his party apologized to residents who were affected by the unpleasant impact of implementing this one-lane policy.
"We will continue to try not to harm residents and there is no interest in this. As a supporting facility, we will install six bells to help the crossing and shock tape. Hopefully this can help and be useful," he explained. (say/dmb)
