Utilizing every inch of land in Malang City to make it green again, the Mayor of Malang continues the "No day without planting" movement in the rainy season. This time the planting movement was carried out at SMKN 13 Malang City by involving all elements of society, Monday (9/12).

At the free school located in the western end of Malang City, Mayor H. Moch. Anton symbolically planted a mango tree. Likewise, the mayor's wife, Dewi Farida Suryani also planted a gadung mango in the school yard.
Anton said that this activity is an effort by Malang City to make the city green again so that it is more comfortable to live in. In addition, this movement is also to make the government's program to plant a billion trees a success as planned by the president.
"We deliberately carried out this activity at school as an educational event so that all components of society in Malang City would work together to make Malang City greener again," explained Anton, Monday (9/12).
Anton added, in addition to planting 515 trees planted in the SMKN 13 area, the Malang City planting movement will also be continued by planting in five sub-districts in Malang City. For this program, the number of trees planted throughout Malang City reached 13.600 trees.
The number one person in the Malang City government also said that this movement does not just stop now, when it is done en masse. Movements like this will be carried out continuously and sustainably.
"I am sure, if it is done continuously, more trees will be planted in Malang City. This is increasingly good to accelerate Malang City so that Malang City becomes greener and cooler again," said Anton.
Head of the Malang City Agriculture Service (Disperta), Ir. Sapto Prapto Santoso, M.Si revealed that the plant seeds planted this time were from the Ministry of Forestry and the Brantas River Basin Center. A total of 13.600 tree trunks were planted, consisting of durian, jabon, mango, rambutan, sengon, breadfruit and soursop trees.
"We deliberately chose 515 seedlings to be planted at SMKN 13 because we saw that the contour of the land and the surrounding area still allowed for planting trees," explained Sapto.
For Malang City itself, Sapto said the Merjosari area has been prepared as a catchment area. Therefore, in addition to the trees that have currently arrived and been planted, more tree seedlings will arrive in the future. The government together with all elements of society will work together to plant so that there will be more trees in Malang. (cah/dmb)
