MSA-4 will carry an educational theme, namely learning the history of Malang City. The historical education in question is about the origins of the villages in Malang City, which will later be used as decorations in all malls participating in the 4th MSA. Each mall will be designed differently so that the nuance is different from the current one.

Regarding this, a positive response was given by one of the observers and cultural activists of Malang City, Dwi Cahyono. According to him, this must receive support from all parties, because the mall that should be selling, still has concern for history and education.

"Later, there will be educational resources that can be used as learning in the mall. If people have thought so far only as a shopping tourism destination, then in this MSA-4 event it will also be a means of learning. The historical sources of Malang City will also be taken from several educational institutions," said Dwi, Thursday (12/12).

Dwi added that every village in Malang has its own story and uniqueness. For example, in ancient times when Malang people managed rice fields, then it became a sawahan village. When residents made a kandangan, then a kandangan appeared which eventually became Kedungkandang, and so on.

In addition to being a learning platform for students who will visit MSA-4, Dwi explained, it will also open up discourse and understanding for Malang residents about history. "Sometimes not all residents understand and comprehend the history of the place where they live. Through this MSA-4 event, it will help provide that understanding," he explained.

"History is very important, because without history, we would not be like we are today. We can learn from history so that our future will be much better. Therefore, never forget history. Especially for the younger generation, namely students and college students who are the next generation of the nation. If our younger generation does not know history, then history will slowly disappear," concluded Dwi. (say/dmb)
