2014 PJU Budget Proposed at IDR 7 M

Street Lighting (PJU) is one of the needs of the community. Related to this, for Malang City, the installation of PJU in the city center has been completed this year. The Department of Cleanliness and Parks (DKP) of Malang City plans to add PJU installations in the suburbs in 2014.

Head of Malang City DKP, Drs. Wasto, SH, MH said that his party proposed a budget to the DPRD of Rp 7 billion. "The installation of PJU on the outskirts of the city is very important, for security and to boost the community's economy. In the city center it has been completed in the last three years with a budget of Rp 25 billion," explained Wasto, Friday (13/12).

"We estimate that the need for street lighting in the suburbs is greater, therefore, the budget proposal is also larger. The proposal for the street lighting budget for next year is currently still in the discussion stage in the council. However, we are optimistic that the proposal can be approved, considering that there are still many areas on the outskirts of Malang that need street lighting," said Wasto.

When asked in which areas will be installed with PJU, Wasto admitted that he did not know the exact points. Before the PJU auction process, he said, a detailed engineering design (DED) auction will be conducted first. The results of the DED then determine the points on the outskirts of the city where PJU will be installed.

"The suburban areas that have highways prone to traffic jams and have quite large economic potential are a priority for installing PJU. Many strategic suburban areas are passed by vehicles but unfortunately have minimal lighting. Points like that are what we will prioritize and evenly distribute," explained Wasto. (say/dmb)
