Supporting the government's efforts to overcome energy resource problems in Indonesia, the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Malang held a socialization of national energy policies. On this occasion, a member of the National Energy Council (DEN), Prof. Ir. Rinaldy Dalimi, M.Sc, Ph.D spoke at length about alternative energy, Tuesday (02/12).

One of the most abundant forms of energy that has not been utilized properly to date is solar energy or solar power. (solar cell). If managed properly, solar cell not only can it meet the need for electricity in Indonesia but also eliminate dependence on fossil fuels (oil fuels) which are currently dwindling due to continuous consumption.
Rinaldy reveals the development solar cell At this time it is absolutely necessary to do it in Indonesia, because in Indonesia solar energy is very abundant. If small type houses such as type 36 have their roofs replaced with solar cell (solar panels) how much electricity can be harvested or generated.
"Indonesia is a country with a lot of sunshine, this is an extraordinary potential. It's just a matter of how to utilize it," explained Rinaldy, Tuesday (02/12).
Rinaldy said that so far Indonesia has not developed solar cell because it is considered expensive and requires land. In fact, with the development of technology, solar cell can be developed by utilizing the roof of the house (roof top).
“Using the roof to store energy reserves, we can supply ourselves. This is our future, because solar cell will be able to solve energy problems," said Rinaldy.
According to him solar cell can be an alternative for the Indonesian nation compared to the construction of nuclear power plants. Because in Indonesia it is very risky to develop nuclear power. In addition to being prone to earthquakes, there are also still very limited human resources (HR, ed.) so that if forced, it will use more human resources from abroad. Not to mention the need for uranium which of course imports from other countries.
The head of the socialization committee, Ir. Choirul Saleh, MT admitted that ITN is currently also focusing on developing various research related to renewable energy. Both related to solar cell as well as developing castor plants into biogas.
"If later appointed by the national energy council, we are ready, currently ITN continues to develop various research related to solar cells and biogas," said Choirul.
The energy socialization activity at ITN aims to socialize what the government wants until 2050 regarding solutions to strengthen national energy security. This activity was attended by experts from universities, entrepreneurs, and students from various regions in Indonesia. (cah/yon)
