On this occasion, the life journey of each figure was briefly played, both Prof. Dr. H. Suparno and Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Rofi'uddin, M.Pd., from childhood to successful careers.

Suparno expressed his gratitude for the support of all UM çivitas during his leadership which was very good in working together for the progress of UM. Like the proverb, this man from Tulunganggung hopes that when he came he would see his face while now he is no longer a rector but his back would be seen.

"The position of rector has now been entrusted to Prof. Rofi'uddin, I will return to teaching," explained Suparno, Wednesday (03/12).

Meanwhile, Prof. Rofi'uddin said that after only five days as rector, he felt that he was still not as smart as Prof. Suparno who had been rector for eight years. From that fact, the man from Jombang hopes to ask for the support of all UM çivities to help him in building and advancing UM. "I ask all parties in UM to help me advance this campus," said Rofi'uddin.

Rofi'uddin further conveyed his desire to develop UM as mandated by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education during the inauguration. Among them is to bring UM to become a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH) and enter the world ranking.

According to him, the challenge given by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education is not easy. There are several requirements that must be met by UM if it wants to become a PTN-BH and enter the world ranking. Among them must develop things related to its scientific work, cooperation, student achievements in various arenas, and minimum accreditation A for all study programs.

"In writing scientific papers, for example, we will organize the productivity of UM lecturers, which is our main target so that UM lecturers can be stronger in producing scientific papers. After this, lecturers are required to sign a contract to be ready to write a scientific paper at least once a year. That is the initial change that we will make," he said.

Not only that, Rofi'udin will also create UM's academic activity to increase research that is in direct contact with the community, make community service more active, and encourage students to continue to excel at the national and international levels. According to him, it takes a process to realize this.

Meanwhile, in terms of study program accreditation, according to him, currently there are still around 35 percent of study programs at UM that are accredited A, the rest are still B and are still in the re-accreditation stage. "Therefore, we are targeting that in the next three years all study programs at UM can be accredited A," he said. (cah/yon)
