Community service is one of the real forms of concern from higher education institutions (PT) in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Community service is so important, Wisnuwardhana University of Malang held a Workshop and Clinic for Compiling Community Service Proposals for lecturers, Thursday (11/12).

Present as speakers include the Chairperson of the Indonesian Community Service Forum for Science and Technology (Flipmas), Prof. Sundani Nurono Soewandhi, Ph.D. In this activity, Sundani clearly discussed the ins and outs of community service.
In his presentation, Sundani said that so far lecturers in Indonesia have not fully implemented the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in terms of research and community service.
"So far, lecturers are still focused on teaching only while research is still minimal, let alone community service. In fact, community service plays a very important role in building a more advanced Indonesian society," said Sundani, Thursday (11/12).
The Rector of Wisnuwardhana University, Prof. Suko Wiyono said the background of holding this workshop and clinic was because of concern about the lack of community service. "It is very unfortunate because so far there are many who claim to be intellectuals but their service is very lacking, PKM (Community Service, ed.) is very rare. In this case, the ones who are wrong include us," said Suko in front of participants who came from various regions in Indonesia.
He added that so far the lecturers who should be doing community service are only focused on theories. Many studies are just piled up even though they have spent a lot of funds.
"The existence of Flipmas is very good, so far some lecturers at Wisnuwardhana University have joined and later we hope all will join and actively do service. However, we also hope that its existence will not be ridden by political interests, do not let it become a party after being strong," he added.
So far, Wisnuwardhana University has also carried out various community services through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). The services carried out include collaborating with the community to jointly develop entrepreneurship such as batik, agricultural cultivation, to processing dragon fruit into chips, drinks, and jam.
