Malang City Archery Athletes Sharpen Their Skills in Kejurcab

Seeing the extent of the abilities of archery athletes who have been trained at Puslatcab (Branch Training Center), the Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) of Malang City held an Archery Branch Championship (Kejurcab). The championship involving archery athletes throughout East Java was held at the Cengger Ayam Field, Sunday (21/12).

Malang City archery coach, Yudhi Purwanto said that this regional championship was intended to hone the skills of Malang City archery athletes before appearing in the V Banyuwangi Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). This championship was attended by 50 participants from various regions in East Java.

"From a championship like this, we can see the extent of the strengths and weaknesses of Malang City archers in facing a competitive match," explained Yudhi, Sunday (21/12).

Through this championship, it can also be monitored which archery athletes from Malang City will be promoted and relegated. Of the 18 athletes currently undergoing training camp, only 12 will be brought to Banyuwangi to appear in Porprov V in June 2015.

"The players whose abilities develop will be brought to Banyuwangi, while those whose abilities decline will of course be relegated," Yudhi emphasized.

Several areas in East Java that took part in the regional championship include Sidoarjo, Blitar, Ponorogo, and Pasuruan. This championship will be held every three months to hone the athletes' fighting mentality so they can feel the atmosphere of competition. (cah/yon)
