The Architecture Department of Trisakti University Jakarta together with accompanying lecturers specifically visited Malang City to see firsthand the beauty of the buildings and the spatial layout of Malang City, Tuesday (23/12).

The accompanying lecturer from Trisakti University, Ir. Ari Gunarsa, said that Malang City has long been known to have... landscape good city planning. One of them is the architecture on Jl. Ijen which is the work of the famous Dutch architect, Herman Thomas Karsten.
"By studying directly in Malang City, all of us and the students learned how to have good city planning, including the construction of parks," explained Ari, Tuesday (23/12).
By being able to learn directly, Ari hopes that students will not only learn theory, but can learn in detail how a city is designed. For Karsten's work in arranging a city so far, it has always had a characteristic that has concern for the environment and respects human values.
"Karsten never forgot the interests of low-income groups, something that was rare among Dutch people at that time," Ari emphasized.
In addition to the Ijen Park area, Trisakti students also saw several other parks in Malang City, including Tugu Square, Merdeka Square, Trunojoyo Smart Park, and Merbabu Park.
Meanwhile, the Expert Staff for Law, Government, and Politics of the Malang City Government, Drs. Mulyono, M.Si, who welcomed the arrival of the students at the Malang City Hall, admitted that he was pleased with the many students and lecturers from the Architecture Department of Trisakti University who came to Malang City. By seeing Malang City directly, students can see how Malang City was in the past and Malang City is now.
"Green Open Space (RTH) is ideally 30 percent of a city area, in Malang it could happen in the past. But now it is just a memory because Green Open Space in Malang City is only seven percent," explained Mulyono.
Mulyono added that he had been to China and saw firsthand how good city planning was, where the arrangement of parks in China allowed its citizens to chat freely without fear of being disturbed by pollution or vehicles.
"From this experience I advise students, create great architectural works by continuing to learn and not just wanting to develop in big cities," Mulyono emphasized. (cah/yon)
