We as society/consumers, NGOs, or observers, should not be too close or too far from the State Electricity Company (PLN). When PLN or other public companies have achievements and provide the best for the community, yes we respond well too. However, when they are bad, we must criticize and eliminate the feeling of reluctance.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Malang Corruption Watch (MCW) Association, Luthfi J Kurniawan, at the PLN Talkshow and Workshop event 'We are starting a clean, honest and dignified movement to realize a clean PLN', at the Regent Hotel, Monday (30/12).
"Based on the results of Transparency International's research, Indonesia's human resource index is equivalent to Vietnam, which is a newly developing country, and this is very sad. Indonesia's democracy index is also below Timor Leste, which is also a newly formed country. But the corruption index is below Timor Leste," explained Luthfi.
Of the 2.000 complaints received by MCW, he explained, 10 percent were about PLN, although so far PLN has always been transparent in various matters, compared to other BUMN/BUMD, and also SKPD in Malang Raya. "Why is all the data not displayed on a board that can be known by all levels of society. We are losing to the mosque administrators," added Luthfi.
In this context, Luthfi continued, PLN should not only be interpreted as an electricity supplier, but more than that. We can learn more and get benefits from PLN, such as free schools and infrastructure provision. "Let's build our thinking about it from now on, because there are many things we can get from public companies, and not only PLN in this case," he said.
"Imaging/campaigning about success or goodness is easy, but what is difficult is maintaining the commitment to the future. We hope that the transparency carried out by PLN can be followed by other agencies, so that this life will be more beautiful. If we are right/transparent, why should we be afraid," said Luthfi.
Meanwhile, Hariyanto WS, as GM of PLN Distribution East Java, admitted that he was ready to accept criticism and suggestions from the community, NGOs and so on so that in the future PLN can be better, especially in the East Java work area. "Convey all criticisms, suggestions, and thoughts to PLN. We are ready to accept all of that with open arms," he said.
"What the public as consumers and MCW conveyed today is very good and will be a reference for us. With this clean PLN program, hopefully it will get support from all parties, especially the public as users of our services. Just convey anything that is uncomfortable regarding PLN services," said Hariyanto. (say/dmb)
