At a T-junction on Jl. Gajah Mada, Malang City, there is a roadside stall called 'Ngisor Nongko' (under the jackfruit tree_ed). Although it is classified as a roadside stall, the people who eat at this stall are from all walks of life.
Just like yesterday, Wednesday (04/03), at first glance it looked like a normal day, all the customers of the food stall were together. However, if you look more closely, at that time there was a group of people eating at one table in front of the stall, namely three women and a man. Among the women was the wife of the Mayor of Malang, Hj. Dewi Farida Suryani.
The woman who is familiarly called Umi Farida looked relaxed and mingled with other customers of the stall. The woman in the hijab ordered food with eggplant chili side dishes, crushed tempeh, and rib soup. Umi Farida was seen enjoying all the food she ordered with her personal secretary and journalists who usually eat at the stall.
Umi said that she was used to eating at roadside stalls like this even though she was the wife of a mayor. "I like food at stalls compared to restaurants, because the spices and cooking are tastier and more flavorful. I like spicy food, and the food at this stall is very delicious. Someday I will definitely eat here again," explained the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP.
Apart from the food being tastier, Umi Farida continued, by eating at a roadside stall like this, she admitted that she could mix with people from all walks of life, and it was not uncommon for residents to invite her. sharing various problems faced. "From complaints, suggestions, or criticisms from the community, I can help and or convey them to the Mayor of Malang," he explained.
"For the residents of Malang City who happen to see me eating at a roadside stall, and want to... sharing about various things, we invite you. I don't want there to be an impression of embarrassment, hesitation, or anything else because I am the mayor's wife. In fact, I would prefer if residents could convey everything rather than have problems later on," concluded Umi Farida. (say/yon)
