The Malang City Government (Pemkot) continues to strengthen and realize the 100-0-100 program initiated by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, namely achieving the target of 100% access to drinking water, 0% slum areas, and 100% access to proper sanitation. The program, one of which is implied in the signing of a memorandum of understanding or MoU (Memorandum of Understanding_red) between the Malang City Government and Merdeka University (Unmer) Malang, at the Scientific Meeting Center (PPI) Building, 3rd Floor, Unmer Malang, Thursday (05/03).

Malang Mayor, H. Moch. Anton said that this MoU aims to resolve the problem of slum areas in the form of house renovation. According to him, in Malang City there are around 608 hectares that are programmed as slum-free areas and there is budget assistance from the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) of Rp. 2,7 billion. "In addition to Unmer, Brawijaya University (UB) Malang is also involved in the same program," he said.
This 100-0-100 program, explained the number one person in the Malang City Government, is an integrated program in an unlimited time. "If it is not started as soon as possible, it will be very difficult to complete the slums and improve sanitation. The role of universities is very important. Therefore, other campuses immediately join this program," appealed the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
"In addition to financial assistance from the government, it will also be supported by CSR funds." (Corporate Social Responsibility_ed), so that the implementation is more optimal. For this year we cannot target how many houses will be renovated, because we want as many as possible. There are eight districts/cities that are designated as pilot project in this 100-0-100 program, and in East Java there are two, namely Malang City and Surabaya City," explained the PKB politician. Separately, the Chancellor of Unmer Malang, Prof. Dr. Anwar Sanusi, SE, M.Si said that his party was only the implementer in the MoU for the 100-0-100 program. "All budgets are prepared by the Malang City Government and we only prepare the implementing personnel and other things related to this house renovation," he explained.
The bespectacled man added that Unmer did not receive any payment for its staff, aka free, because this is a synergy program between the Malang City Government and Unmer Malang. "We will later deploy all lecturers from the engineering faculty, especially from the civil engineering and architecture departments," he explained.
"In addition, we also invite engineering faculty students, especially those who will work on their final assignments, as well as in the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program or what is also commonly called community service. We will also directly calculate how many SKS (Semester Credit Units) in the implementation or participation of students in this program," explained Anwar.
The house renovation handled by Unmer, he said, was in 11 sub-districts in two districts, one of which was in Sukun District. "After this MoU, no later than the end of March we will go directly to the field to conduct data collection, evaluation, and design what the residents' houses will be renovated like," explained Anwar.
