Supporting Geodesy education which has now changed its name to Geomatics to be more optimal, the National Institute of Technology (ITN) Malang continues to improve its facilities. This time ITN introduced an unmanned aircraft or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) named Heksa Kopter, Wednesday (11/03).
To geography teachers throughout East Java, this Heksa Kopter was exhibited and tested to see how its capabilities support Geomatics education. This drone will later be used for mapping surveys, especially in the field of Photogrammetry (aerial surveying/mapping techniques through aerial photography_ed).
"So far, mapping surveys have usually been carried out using large aircraft, hot air balloons or satellites, but with this tool, mapping can now be more effective because these unmanned aircraft can be controlled remotely." remotee" said the Head of the Geodetic Engineering Department of ITN, Martinus Edwin Tjahjadi, ST, M.Geom.SC, Ph.D, Wednesday (11/03).
The assembled device uses the laws of aerodynamics to lift the fuselage and carry loads in the form of cameras or videos. The load that can be carried reaches 5 kg. This Rp. 100 million drone can fly at an altitude of up to hundreds of meters and can capture mapping objects of up to 100 to 200 hectares.
"This tool has been utilized by ITN students for mapping practicums. We assembled this Heksa Kopter from various components that we imported from abroad because they are not available in Indonesia. Such as motor engines, navigation systems, systems Autopilot (autopilot_red), balancing system, sensors and GPS (Global Positioning System)," said Edwin. (cah/yon)
