How much the parking rates for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles in Malang City will increase will likely be known soon. The Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) has submitted the results of a study related to parking fees to the Special Committee (Pansus) for Parking Fees of the Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Monday (6/4).

Head of Malang City Transportation Agency Dr. Handi Priyanto, AP, M.Si revealed that his party has conducted a study related to the determination of parking rates in Malang City. From the study, it was finally proposed for two-wheeled parking rates of IDR 2.000 and four-wheeled parking rates of IDR 3.000.
"We have submitted this increase to the Malang City DPRD Parking Fee Special Committee, the final decision on the parking fee increase will be with the special committee," explained Handi, Monday (6/4).
Handi added, before finding the figure of Rp 2.000 for two wheels and Rp 3.000 for four wheels there was input for parking rates of Rp 1.600 for two wheels and Rp 2.800 for four wheels. But the consideration with the nominal will be difficult to implement in the field because the change will definitely be difficult.
"A small example previously, when the parking fee was set at IDR 700 for two-wheeled vehicles, the reality in the field so far has always been that parking has always been charged at IDR 1.000 and some have even charged up to IDR 2.000," Handi emphasized.
From the survey conducted by the Malang City Transportation Agency together with the survey team, the increase in parking rates was based on the ability and willingness of the community.
"We have conducted a survey, out of 100 people, 78% of them do not mind the parking rates being increased as long as they get a ticket," Handi emphasized.
So far, many people are confused because so far on the parking fee coupon it says Rp 700 but in reality it is charged a thousand rupiah. This has become a complaint in the community and should not be repeated. (cah/yon)
