Creative and innovative teachers in teaching will make lessons at school more enjoyable. In order to support such learning, the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) held training for teachers throughout East Java at SD Unggulan AL-YA'LU Malang City, Saturday (11/4).

In this training, the Ministry of Education and Culture collaborated with Unisadhuguna Testing Center - International Competition and Assessment for Schools (UTC-ICAS) Indonesia and attended by teachers ranging from elementary to high school teachers.
Head of the Operational Division of the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Dr. Hendra Suryanto, revealed the activity entitled 'Integrative Learning Through STEAM Program' This aims to improve the insight and abilities of teachers by providing technology-based learning supplies.
"On this occasion, we invite teachers to create various technology-based teaching materials, including... roller coaster, bridges, earthquake-resistant buildings, airplane models, and other creative works of science and technology," explained Hendra, Saturday (11/4).
Through this activity, Hendra hopes that teachers can be more creative in creating teaching materials that are not only theoretical and boring. Students should also be invited to practice more often so that their thinking becomes more creative and the learning process becomes more enjoyable.
UTC-ICAS Indonesia Team Leader, Deddy Mulyadi said, so far education in Indonesia tends to be more about the problem of achieving grades so that it is low in terms of reasoning. Whereas more than that, the function of education is to equip students to be ready to live in the midst of a society that demands them to be creative.
"This training is expected to not only make students fixated and happy to get good grades. More than that, we hope to be able to help teachers improve students' abilities so that they can be better at reasoning," said Deddy.
Deddy added, science will continue to develop dynamically in accordance with the times, so that learning patterns must also continue to grow. Various methods and approaches in learning must be continuously updated so that they can later answer the challenges of the times. (cah/yon)
