Ahead of the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), it turns out that many fields and professions in Indonesia are still weak. The Chairman of the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), Sumarna F. Abdurahman said that only the tourism and health sectors are ready to compete, Monday (20/4).

In the Socialization of the Vocational School Certification Program in East Java which was implemented at Edotel (Educational Hotel) SMKN 2 Malang, Sumarna explained, facing the MEA later, it is still the tourism and health sectors whose workforce has been certified. While other sectors that reach ten sectors are still weak, including the automotive sector, services electronics, rubber production, textiles, fisheries, wood products, aviation, and logistics.

"The certification activity this time is an effort to accelerate professional certification, this is very important so that later the existence of Indonesian workers will be more recognized," explained Sumarna, Monday (20/4).

So far, he continued, in a year the certified professional workforce only reached 40.000 people. This shows that the Indonesian nation is not ready to face the MEA. Therefore, in 2015, his party is targeting to reach 300.000 workers.

For that, several steps have been prepared by BNSP, including increasing the number of Professional Certification Institutions (LSP) which previously only had 137 to 600 LSPs. In addition, the Sectoral Certification Committee (KSS) was also formed. Meanwhile, in terms of quality, certification which previously used a national scheme will be changed to international to be more recognized internationally.

"The great potential of natural resources in Indonesia must not make this nation careless, if we are even slightly careless, this nation's generation will be crushed by other countries," Sumarna emphasized.

From that fact, Sumarna said that his party will continue to try to increase the number of certifications, especially in the 12 priority sectors. For vocational high school students. we also continue to encourage all vocational high schools to become LSPs that can later issue certifications for graduates. (cah/yon)
