Moreover, our young generation today, who must be admitted, mostly prefer foreign arts and cultures to our own national arts. With such concern and commitment, traditional arts will not be extinct or even die just because of the entry of foreign cultures into our midst.

Only our own nation can preserve its arts and culture. Therefore, through the wayang kulit performance, let us sharpen our awareness and understanding of the nation's identity and its role and position in the current actual situation amidst the global life scene.

This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary of Malang City, Ir. Cipto Wiyono, M.Si who is also the chairman of the organizing committee for the wayang kulit performance, Tuesday (21/4). The wayang kulit performance will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the yard of Malang City Hall starting at 19.00 WIB.

The event held to enliven the 101st Anniversary of Malang City will present the story of "Pandawa Mbangun Amarta" with the puppeteer "Ki Enthus Susmono" (Regent of Tegal). The shadow puppet show will be enlivened by several guest stars including Kirun, Marwoto, Topan, Sinden Wiwid and Sinden Megan from the Netherlands.

"By holding this event, it is hoped that it can preserve the archipelago culture from Bhumi Arema for the country. On the same day as the shadow puppet show, there will be a product exhibition of UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises_ed) of Malang City along Jl. Kertanegara Selatan and Jl. Tugu Malang at 15.00 WIB," added Cipto.

Road users around the city hall are expected to adjust to the traffic engineering on that day. "This wayang kulit art and culture is one of the ancestral heritages that must be maintained and preserved properly. Especially the younger generation, should play a big role in this," concluded Cipto. (say/hms/yon)
