Campaigning for the people of Malang City to increasingly understand the benefits of consuming fish, the Malang City PKK TP in collaboration with the Malang City Agriculture Service (Disperta) and the Food Security Office held a Movement to Socialize Eating Fish (Gemarikan) at Brawijaya Field (Rampal) Malang, Sunday (26/4).

The event, which was opened directly by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton and the Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP, Hj. Dewi Farida Suryani, also held various activities. Starting from a menu creation competition with fish as the main ingredient, a fish cooking demonstration from the Sahid Montana Hotel, to a drawing competition with a fish theme.
Head of TP PKK Malang City, Hj. Dewi Farida Suryani said that this Gemarikan activity is to increase fish consumption in the community. With such good fish nutrition, it will certainly help Malang City to be able to produce a healthy, strong, intelligent and brilliant generation.
"In this activity, a menu creation competition with fish as the basic ingredient was also held. The hope is that the community can be smarter in processing food from fish so that children can increasingly like eating fish," explained the woman who is often called Umi Farida, Sunday (26/4).
In addition to the fish menu creation competition, this activity also held a food making competition with non-rice ingredients, either from corn or cassava. In this way, it is hoped that alternative food recipes will be created as a substitute for the staple food so far, namely rice.
Head of the Malang City Agriculture Service, Ir. Hadi Santoso revealed that the Gemarikan activity was deliberately held to campaign for the habit of consuming fish. With such high nutrition, fish is very good for consumption. But in fact, the level of fish consumption in Indonesian society is currently still low.
"We hope that this activity can educate the public that consuming highly nutritious foods derived from fish is very beneficial for the body, especially to improve health," explained Soni, the nickname of Ir. Hadi Santoso. (cah/yon)
