Every May 20th, the Indonesian people commemorate it as National Awakening Day (Harkitnas), a day that is the momentum of the struggle of all Indonesian people. National Awakening is a time of the rise of the spirit of nationalism, unity, oneness and awareness as a nation to advance itself through modern organizational movements that had never previously emerged during colonialism.

Through the commemoration of National Harkitnas, let us remember how the spirit of struggle The Founding Fathers this great nation to be taken as an example for all of us. Dr. Wahidin Soedirohoesodo and Dr. Soetomo have instilled the concept of intellectual struggle through the formation of organizations to build togetherness and unity between elements of the nation.
The long process of their struggle continued by other fighters has resulted in the birth of the great nation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia that we know today. The struggle of the Indonesian people is not over. This struggle is eternal towards an advanced and modern Indonesia, just, prosperous, democratic and dignified.
If calculated from the starting point of the National Awakening in 1908, it means that we have been in the process of becoming a sovereign nation for more than a hundred years, and have continuously struggled with changes. These changes, whether we like it or not, will certainly unite and mark the process of our nation's historical journey.
Therefore, we must remain vigilant and maintain the consistency and continuity of national values that have been pioneered by previous fighters. As we know in the vision and mission of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo - Jusuf Kalla, the development of the nation's mentality and character is one of the main priorities of the current Indonesian government's development program.
Character building is not only in the ranks of government bureaucracy but also in all components of society. Character building called the 'mental revolution' is expected to produce Indonesian human resources who are creative, innovative, dedicated, disciplined, hard-working, and obedient to the rules.
The success of good mental and character development will create an orderly and open society as a positive social capital for the progress of the nation. In line with the spirit and soul of the National Awakening, the commemoration of the 107th National Awakening Day in 2015 takes the theme "Through National Awakening Day We Raise the Spirit of Hard Work to Realize Advanced and Prosperous Indonesia".
This theme contains the meaning that the National Awakening is now more focused on the realization of real work by working harder and not just developing discourse. The demand to continue to progress and realize Indonesia as a prosperous country has become a trigger for the importance of realizing the spirit of the National Awakening with hard work, smart work, and productive work.
This Harkitnas momentum must also be able to revive the values of togetherness, unity and oneness of the nation in facing existing challenges by arousing a sense of pride and love for the homeland. No nation advances without struggle and hard work. No nation advances without sacrifice, and God will not change the fate of a nation unless they try to change themselves.
The purpose of the 107th Harkitnas Commemoration is to continue to maintain, grow and strengthen our national spirit as a basic foundation in carrying out development, upholding democratic values based on morals and ethics of the nation and state, strengthening brotherhood to accelerate the realization of the vision and mission as an advanced and prosperous nation within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia.
Let us interpret this Harkitnas commemoration with real work based on a true sense of nationalism in order to realize an advanced and prosperous Indonesia.
