Driven by Karang Taruna Kebonsari Village, Sukun District and supported by the TNI, residents of Kebonsari Village held an environmental clean-up action, Sunday (24/05). Targeting six points, the clean-up action focused on dredging rivers that were experiencing shallowing, cleaning up garbage and also weeds.
The Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton accompanied by the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency of Malang City, Ir. Bambang Suharijadi and the Head of Sukun District, Sinarni, SIP, MM emphasized that the active role of residents in the clean-up action will contribute significantly to realizing a clean, beautiful, and healthy city.
Severe shallowing conditions are seen in the irrigation river in front of the Lorena bus wash on Jl. Raya Kebonsari, and this has become a special concern for the Mayor of Malang to handle. "This is the importance of spot checks. We know firsthand the actual conditions," added the man who is familiarly called Abah Anton.
Community service or cleaning like this, he said, must be done routinely, so that a clean and healthy environment will be created. "If our environment is clean, it will automatically ward off various diseases," continued Abah Anton.
"In addition, do not build permanent buildings on rivers so that when it rains it does not cause puddles. Residents must know the ethics and aesthetics of development, so that it will not cause new problems in the future," said the PKB politician. (say/hms/yon)
