To stop the circulation of drugs among students, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Malang City held a raid and urine test in a number of boarding houses. In the raid, officers arrested two people whose test results showed they were positive for using drugs (narcotics and dangerous drugs/materials_ed), Wednesday (3/6).

The joint raid, which was also attended by the Malang City Police Narcotics Unit and the Malang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), began at a boarding house in the Sawojajar area. In one of the boarding houses, which is divided into two opposing complexes, it is known to accommodate 78 students from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Timor Leste.
At the location, joint officers did not find any boarding house residents who tested positive for using drugs. Officers instead secured two people who tested positive for using drugs at the second location in the Jl. Ranu Grati Sawojajar area. They were a Lady Escort (LC) at a karaoke house in Malang City and her colleague.
One of the boarding house residents, Yuli Eka Wati, said she was happy with the drug raids in the boarding house environment like this. In addition to preventing drug trafficking, this raid is expected to reduce criminal acts that often arise as an effect of drug and alcohol use.
In this raid, Satpol PP officers also found a number of violations of justice in the form of expired passports, visas and ID cards. Officers gave warnings and appeals for boarding house residents to immediately take care of the extension of these documents as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City BNN, AKBP Hennry Budiman said that this raid was carried out to save the nation's children, and now there is a government program in the form of the 100 Thousand Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Movement. "This is an effort by the BNN which is carried out in an integrated manner with related agencies, such as Satpol PP and the Police," he said.
"In this case, we are also proactive against drug abuse. And for this year the government has prepared a place for drug users to be rehabilitated. One of the places is at Rindam V Brawijaya Malang. They will be rehabilitated for free, and will not be punished," added Hennry.
Boarding houses were chosen as the target of the raid, Hennry continued, because so far boarding houses are still considered quite vulnerable as places for drug abuse. "We prioritize boarding houses, and later we will move to other places. If there are positive users, then we will-assessment "First, to what extent is the person's dependency, whether it is light, moderate or heavy," he explained.
After that, continued Hennry, it will be determined whether these users should be treated as outpatients or other actions. "For Malang City, we have prepared and on June 7, 2015 they are ready to be hospitalized. The first stage will be allocated for 200 people for free," he explained. (say/yon)
