Malang City, which was expected to win a gold medal in the IRR (Individual Road Race) class through Crismonita, finally had to be satisfied with winning a bronze medal. Maghfirotika Marendra from Surabaya and Findra Almira from Malang Regency topped the IRR class cycling branch by winning gold and silver, Monday (8/6).

Sumardi Waluyo as the Chairman of the Indonesian Cycling Association (ISSI) of Malang City said that actually Crismonita could have won gold, but there were a few obstacles experienced by one of the mainstay cycling athletes of Malang City, namely due to the monthly cycle that is always experienced by a woman (menstruation/period).

"We actually anticipated, but everything was beyond our expectations. And this is a competition, where there are winners and losers," added Sumardi, Monday (8/6).

In this IRR class, he said, a cyclist not only needs endurance skills and , but also need a strategy. "This is different from the class Individual Time Trial (ITT) that just needs to be emphasized endurance and . But whatever the result, we can still accept it," concluded Sumardi. (say/yon)
