Youth Teams Compete in the 2015 Danrem Cup Football Tournament

The longing of the people of Malang City to be able to watch youth soccer matches received appreciation from the ranks of the TNI. Entering the third day of August 2015, Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya held the 2015 Danrem Cup Soccer Tournament at Rampal Field, Malang City, Tuesday (4/8).

Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton and all officials of the Regional Leadership Forum (Fopimda) were present at the opening of the tournament at Rampal Field which was attended by 12 football clubs from nine Kodim and three Korem battalions.

Commander of Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya Col. Inf. Fajar Setyawan, S.IP said that this activity is a form of gratitude to God Almighty. This activity was also held in order to welcome the 70th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This activity is a means of fostering friendship through football in Indonesia and also to raise the spirit of Indonesian football which is currently sluggish," said Colonel Fajar, Tuesday (4/8).

The championship was intentionally followed by players under 21 years old for long-term development. It is expected that from this event many quality young soccer players will be born who can be Indonesia's mainstay. "The team that wins this tournament will represent Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya to participate in the national championship of the Pangdam Cup in Surabaya," he added.

Some teams that took part in this championship were Arema U-21, PS Jagung, Ceil Jedong Pasuruhan, Tunas Muda Probolinggo, Jember FC. The championship was held for three days until Thursday (6/8). (cah/yon)
