Lowokwaru, MC - Welcoming global competition at the ASEAN, Asia, and world levels, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is increasingly active in improving its capabilities in the field of research. This time the White Campus is holding an International Conference: The 1st UMM International Conference on Pure and Applied Research (UMM-ICoPAR) in the UMM Dome theater room, Friday (21/8) to Saturday (22/8).

In this international conference, not only researchers from Indonesia and the ASEAN region attended, but also researchers from China, the United States, and Russia. The focus of the two-day conference was in the field of pure research and applied research.
UMM Rector Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.AP revealed that the intention of this activity to present international researchers from America to China is to develop the insights of Indonesian researchers. So far, research has only been looked down upon, there must be a change so that in the future research can become something that is truly done seriously. "Through this activity, we want to contribute to the nation on how to advance Indonesia through international class research," explained Muhadjir, Friday (21/8).
Muhadjir said that this activity was UMM's response to the decision of the Minister of Education to make universities a research center. He added that so far in Indonesia, research has not been prioritized. In the future, with an adequate budget, research results must be improved again in order to compete with other countries.
On this occasion, much research related to sustainable education, renewable energy, and global warming was discussed. With this conference, it is hoped that it can further collaborate universities in various parts of the world with UMM, including donor institutions. (cah/yon)
