ATCS is a traffic control system based on information technology in an area that aims to optimize road network performance through optimization and coordination of traffic light settings at each intersection.

The launching of the program was in collaboration with one of Malang's local radio and television stations. Symbolically, the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton inaugurated the program. Later, the Transportation Agency will install 40 ATCS units at 40 road intersections. Currently, it has been installed at 15 points, including on Jl. Raya Sulfat and Jl. LA Sucipto.

Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, Dr. Handi Priyanto, AP, M.Si said that in the future his party plans to collaborate with all local media in Malang so that traffic information can be conveyed to the public. "During rush hours, road users can look for alternative routes if the road they want to take is congested," he said, Thursday (27/8).

"Traffic information will be broadcast at 06.30 WIB, 10.00 WIB, 11.00 WIB, 12.00 WIB, and 16.00 WIB. This ATCS is also to reduce the number of crimes on the streets. With this tool, criminals will think twice, because their actions will be monitored by CCTV. This is the first in Indonesia, for the Transportation Agency to monitor traffic flow using ATCS," added Handi.

Next year, he said, the Ministry of Transportation will provide ITC assistance (Traffic Control) as many as nine units. This type of tool is more sophisticated than ATCS, and one of its sophistication does not require many changes and can record ten-second events quickly in quiet traffic situations.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton said that ATCS will greatly assist the Malang City Government in monitoring and reducing traffic congestion, as well as reducing crime rates. "In the future, all parties should participate in maintaining the existence of this equipment," he appealed.

Separately, Malang City Police Chief AKBP Singgamata, S.IK greatly appreciates the installation of this monitoring device. With this ATCS, according to him, it will certainly help the Police in reducing traffic jams. "The more monitoring devices, the better, as well as to minimize crime on the streets," he added.
