As seen in the implementation of the earth alms ceremony held yesterday, Friday (28/8), residents were willing to queue since morning even though the basic food packages containing 3,5 kilograms of rice and two packets of vermicelli were only distributed at 09.00 WIB.

Symbolically, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Drs. Sutiadji handed over basic food packages to the underprivileged. According to him, what the Eng An Kiong Temple did was very good and could help the underprivileged. However, he hopes that the basic food packages provided will not run out, as proof that the number of poor people in Malang City is decreasing.

The same thing was also conveyed by the public relations of the Klenteng, Bonsu Anton Triyono, who said that all the basic food packages that had been prepared did not all come from the Klenteng foundation, but from various elements of society who were willing to donate a little of their fortune.

"The support from the Malang City Government has been very good so far, so that in the future similar activities will continue to be improved. Hopefully what we provide can be useful for residents who really need it," added Bonsu Anton.

Separately, Suponidi (70), a resident of Mergosono, said he was happy to receive basic food assistance. The old man thanked the foundation (Eng An Kiong Temple) for providing basic food. "This assistance is very helpful in meeting my family's needs," he said. (say/yon)
