In order to maximize agricultural output in Malang City, the Malang City Agriculture Service (Disperta) handed over planting machine assistance to the Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan) of Pandanwangi Village, Blimbing District, Wednesday (2/9). Until now, there have been 23 Gapoktan in Malang City.
The handover and testing of this agricultural machine, it is hoped that in Malang City, we will no longer talk about food self-sufficiency, but more about food sovereignty. Because with this planting machine equipment, it can save planting costs for farmers up to 60 percent.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Agriculture Service (Disperta), Ir. Hadi Santoso, to reporters. According to him, finding human resources is already difficult, while the harvest season must be on time (on time). "If not, the rice will lack water and be attacked by pests, which will harm farmers," he added, Wednesday (2/9).
The man who is familiarly called Soni added, in this second planting season, which is in April to September, the target is to reach 930 hectares. "For the harvest, one hectare of land will produce 7,5 tons of rice. Although in other areas it can reach 10,3 tons, for Malang City, a minimum of 7,3 tons is good," explained Soni.
He added that the type of rice planted is premium quality rice, namely Serang. This rice is usually for mixtures and its price is different from other rice. "Hopefully this rice planting machine will be useful for farmers, so that the lives of farmers will be better," concluded Soni. (say/yon)
