Communication and Information Office Holds Interactive Dialogue on Labor Protection

In order to contribute to the success of the government's program in socializing the latest regulations on employment, the Malang City Communication and Information Service held an interactive dialogue on labor protection which was held at the Trio Indah 2 Hotel Malang, Tuesday (8/9).

In this interactive dialogue, speakers from BPJS (Social Security Administration) of Malang Manpower and the Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans) of Malang City were present, with fifty companies in Malang City as participants.

Head of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Malang Branch Office Sri Subekti expressed her appreciation for the activities carried out by the Communication and Information Service this time. According to her, this activity is a very good medium for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to be able to socialize various new policies.

"In accordance with the mandate of the law, as of July 1, 2015 BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has officially been operating. Every company is required to include its employees in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program," explained Sri Subekti, Tuesday (8/9).

For companies that do not include their employees in the BPJS Employment program, he added, of course they will be subject to sanctions according to applicable regulations. BPJS Employment is not only mandatory for company employees, but currently also applies to informal workers such as pedicab drivers, fishermen, and street vendors.

Head of Public Information Division of Malang City Communication and Information Service Dra. Ani Rahmawiyati, M.Si said that Malang City Communication and Information Service held this activity to educate companies and the community or workers in Malang City regarding social security.

Currently, according to the mandate of the law, workers must obtain their rights to receive work accident insurance, death insurance, old age insurance, pensions, and so on.

"The purpose and objective of holding this activity is to disseminate information about the rights and obligations of workers and companies," explained Ani.

Through this activity, it is also expected that participants can help the government in disseminating information related to labor protection. (cah/yon)
