One of the pedicab drivers who usually hangs out in front of Ijen Church on Jl. Ijen, Suparno (56) said he was happy with the provision of this basic food package. The middle-aged man did not expect that suddenly someone would give him basic food. "It's quite good, I got free rice, sugar and cooking oil from PMI Malang City for cooking ingredients for several days at home with my family. I express my gratitude for this gift," he said, Tuesday (15/9).

The chairman of the committee for the Malang City PMI Anniversary, I Dewa Nyoman Supariasa, MPS said that various events such as talkshow, social service, various competitions such as table tennis, marble running, cracker eating, balloon fan, and others, also enlivened the celebration of the 70th anniversary of PMI. "In the future, hopefully PMI Malang City can do more to help the community, especially in providing blood bags," he added.

"However, it is necessary for the public to understand that PMI is not only related to blood stock and blood donors. PMI has a big role in society, namely the humanitarian mission, and that word has a very broad meaning. Helping the community is not only in the form of blood, but there are still many other missions or ways, such as health checks, providing counseling and so on," explained Nyoman.

He added, everything that PMI Malang City has done so far, hopefully, can be useful and can ease their burden (aid recipients_ed). "PMI will always provide the best for the community and this nation in the future. Our humanitarian service will continue to be improved, so that PMI can realize what is its work program," concluded Nyoman. (say/yon)
