The Malang City Government through the Malang City Agriculture Service (Disperta) handed over two tractor units to help increase farmer productivity and realize food security in Malang City. The two tractor units were handed over to the KUD Subur and KUD Kamajaya farmer groups at the Tlogowaru Fish Seed Center in Malang City, Friday (30/10).

Head of the Malang City Agriculture Service, Ir. Hadi Santoso revealed that so far farmers in Malang City have experienced difficulties in land processing because they do not have their own tractors. Even if they could, they still borrowed from the Kebon Agung Sugar Factory and usually only realized after waiting three months.
"By having our own tractor, we hope that Malang City farmers can be more effective in working so that the results can be even greater," explained Soni, the nickname of Ir. Hadi Santoso, Friday (30/10).
The presence of this tractor is expected to help the burden of farmers in cultivating land which is increasingly expensive operational costs. That way, farmers' expenses for renting tractors can be eliminated and reduce the costs used for farming.
Meanwhile, Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton confirmed that the Malang City Government had handed over two tractor units which were a gift from the central government to farmers. In addition to the two tractor units, the farmers also received assistance in the form of rice seeds and orange seeds in pots.
"We hope that farmers in Malang City can be enthusiastic again in planting their land, not to the point of selling it which can be converted into housing," concluded the man who is often called Abah Anton. (cah/yon)
