Malang City hosted the 24th East Java Level Vocational High School Student Competency Competition (LKS). The event at the Graha Cakrawala Building, Malang State University (UM) which was attended by 4.000 vocational high school students throughout East Java was opened by the Deputy Governor of East Java Drs. Syaifullah Yusuf and also attended by the Mayor of Malang H. Moch. Anton, Monday (2/11).

Before giving his speech, the man who is often called Gus Ipul invited all participants to sing the song Indonesia Tanah Air Beta. With great enthusiasm he invited all students to shout 'SMK Bisa'. "I am sure that SMK will be able to become a winner, including when facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)," explained Gus Ipu, Monday (2/11).
In order to be a winner, all students must be able to convince themselves that they can. The main thing to be successful is to overcome one's own weaknesses. Students must always think positively, be sure to determine the goals they want to achieve, and continue to focus on what they aspire to.
"Dream as high as possible, and don't be afraid to fall. Don't forget we must continue to have a great love for God, the Prophet, religion, and both parents," said Gus Ipul.
Meanwhile, the Head of the East Java Provincial Education Office, Dr. Saiful Rachman, MM, M.Pd. expressed his hope that the East Java Level LKS which will be implemented until November 5, 2015 can be used as a barometer to measure the success of the learning process in SMK. In addition, it is also to build SMK to be even better.
"Currently, reliable human resources are needed, especially for the industrial world. The challenge for future vocational schools must be able to prepare quality students who are in accordance with market demand," said Saiful.
In the LKS in Malang City, various fields of student expertise will be competed. Among them are business management, agricultural technology, fisheries, technology and engineering, information technology, tourism, language, health, applied science, and sports. (cah/yon)
