Taking real action to continue to suppress the circulation of cigarettes without excise, the East Java II Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kanwil DJBC Jatim II) took firm action. A total of six million illegal cigarettes were confiscated and destroyed by burning them in front of the East Java II Regional Office of DJBC on Jl. Raden Intan No. 3, Malang City, Tuesday (3/11).

The destruction of millions of illegal cigarettes was attended and led directly by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro. In addition to the destruction of more than six million cigarettes without excise and illegal tobacco worth Rp 1,6 billion, various other illegal products were also destroyed such as airsoft gun, sex toys, drugs. This is done to suppress the practice of selling various illegal goods and also to regulate industry players.
Minister Bambang said that this activity aims to help the legal cigarette industry which has been greatly harmed by the rampant sale of illegal cigarettes without excise. This activity deserves appreciation because it is a real action in creating an industry that complies with all provisions and pays excise according to obligations.
"The hope is that there will be no more cigarettes that do not pay excise. In addition to protecting the interests of state revenue, this activity is also to protect the public from the negative impacts of the circulation of illegal cigarettes," Minister Bambang emphasized, Tuesday (3/11).
In order for companies to be more compliant with the applicable regulations, Minister Bambang said the government will continue to conduct socialization. In this way, it is hoped that in the future there will be no more cigarette companies that do not comply with existing regulations. (cah/yon)
