Klojen, MC – A total of 30 tons of lamb meat was distributed to 6.000 heads of families (KK) with Social Welfare Problems (PMKS) in Malang City by the MEC Foundation in collaboration with the Indonesian Server Foundation (YSI) and the Malang City Social Service, Wednesday (18/11). The distribution of the sacrificial meat was given at the Graha Cakrawala Building, Malang State University. The lamb meat was neatly packaged in plastic weighing four kilograms each.
The Australian-based MEC Foundation has been primarily distributing meat to underprivileged families for the past ten years. In addition to Malang City, similar meat will be distributed in all districts/cities in East Java.
Several regencies/cities that have received the distribution are Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Surabaya, Mojokerto and Jombang. For East Java, 300 tons of lamb meat will be distributed for two months. This activity is not only to share with others, but also as a guidance for the Islamic religion.
This was conveyed by the chairman of the event committee, Sulaiman Sahid Tosan when met on the sidelines of the event. Of the thousands of Malang City residents who were queuing, pregnant women and people with disabilities were also seen. They queued orderly even though they were a little crowded with each other.
According to Sulaiman, his party collected funds from all donors around the world to carry out this activity. "After the funds are collected, they are sent to Australia, then animals are bought and slaughtered at the local slaughterhouse. We guarantee the health and halalness of this meat," he said.
Meanwhile, one of the recipients of lamb meat from the Sukun area, Musdalifah, said she was happy with the event. The middle-aged woman hopes that this activity will continue so that it can help the underprivileged, such as the poor. (say/yon)
