Head of the Malang City Health Office Dr. dr. Asih Tri Rachmi Nuswantari, MM revealed that the spread of HIV/AIDS in Malang City is currently increasingly worrying. According to data until 2014, there were 3.800 infected sufferers.

"The closing of the localization is suspected to have also contributed to the increasingly rapid spread of the HIV/AIDS virus. Because with the closing of the localization, officers from the Health Service are clearly finding it increasingly difficult to conduct socialization," explained Asih, Tuesday (1/12).

Asih explained that socialization could be done more easily and quickly by health workers if the targets of socialization such as PSK (Commercial Sex Workers_ed) could be directly detected. However, currently it is very difficult to identify the existence of PSK, because they could open practices in boarding houses or other places.

"If socialization is done to boarding houses, it is not certain that the boarding house owners will accept it quickly. This is a challenge for health workers to be more creative in providing education," said Asih.

The increasing number of HIV/AIDS sufferers that are now known, according to Asih, brings its own wisdom. Because this also means that more people are aware of checking their health.

Meanwhile, Malang Deputy Mayor Drs. Sutiaji appealed to Malang residents to behave healthily so that they do not get HIV/AIDS. The community is also asked not to ostracize HIV/AIDS sufferers. (cah/yon)
