American Consulate General Strengthens Cooperation with Malang City Government

Klojen, MC – During a visit to Malang City Hall to meet the Mayor of Malang, Monday (7/12), Heather Variava, Consul General of the United States in Surabaya confirmed his interest in collaborating with the Malang City Government, especially in the fields of education and culture.

During this working visit, Heather was accompanied by Carolina Escalera. (Public Affairs) and Tatik Hafidz (Consulate General Staff). They were received in the Malang Mayor's Meeting Room and held various discussions related to the progress of their respective regions.

"In addition to introducing ourselves to the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton, we have also collaborated with the University of Muhammadiyah Malang through the America Corner program," said Heather, who has only been on duty in Indonesia for four months.

This career diplomat who has traveled to almost all countries in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia also expressed his admiration for the shady trees and the existence of well-maintained city parks in Malang City.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor H. Moch. Anton is open to the proposed cooperation offer. With 54 universities in Malang City, this city with a population of almost one million people has a great opportunity to build partnerships with foreign countries. (say/yon)
