Malang Mayor Prepares Sanctions for Littering

Klojen, MC – The enthusiasm of the City Government along with the TNI-Polri and the city council in realizing and maintaining Malang City as a city that... 'clean' (clean_ed) will be meaningless if it is not accompanied by public awareness and willingness to maintain a clean environment.

This was emphasized by the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton on the sidelines of a city tour on Sunday (13/12). The concern of the man who is often called Abah Anton emerged when he saw garbage from visitors to the Tugu Square park scattered around.

"It seems that there needs to be strict sanctions for these litterers so that there is a sense of deterrence. If left like this, it will continue to pollute Malang City, and the citizens of this city (Malang) will continue to litter," Abah Anton growled.

With so many dirty spots in Malang City, it is certainly impossible to rely solely on park officers, in this case the Malang City Cleanliness and Parks Service (DKP) to supervise it. "Community participation is an important part of maintaining this cleanliness," said the PKB politician.

Separately, the Malang City DKP rapid response team immediately cleaned up the points in question. Like the Mayor of Malang, the Head of the Malang City DKP, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT also regretted the irresponsible behavior of a small number of visitors to the city park.

"As a good citizen of Malang City, of course, we will be responsible for various things in this city, including maintaining cleanliness. If the habit of littering continues for a long time, in addition to polluting the environment, it is also prone to flooding, especially now that it is the rainy season," explained Erik. (say/yon)
