Lowokwaru, MC – The Blind Muslim Family of Malang City held an event to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday at the Ridwanusolichin Mosque in Malang City as a form of their gratitude for the blessings of Allah SWT, Monday (4/1).
Despite their limitations, these blind people also displayed captivating actions, starting from reciting the creed, reading the Qur'an, to conveying the purpose of the activity initiated by the Indonesian Blind Association (Pertuni) of Malang City and the Blind Massage Committee (Pamitra). The event was even more lively and felt special with the presence of the Mayor of Malang, H. Moch. Anton.
The Chairman of Pertuni Malang City, Supriadi, admitted that he was pleased with the presence of the Mayor of Malang, who is often called Abah Anton. The presence of Abah Anton greatly motivated members of the visually impaired in Malang City to be able to achieve more like other people.
"From 1989 until now, the Mayor of Malang who attended the event we held was only Mr. Anton. Therefore, the commemoration of the Prophet's Birthday this time for us feels very special," explained Supriadi, Monday (4/1).
Ridwanusolichin Mosque was chosen as the venue because according to Supriadi it is quite representative and blind people from various areas in Malang can attend. "We have 250 members, around 150 people can attend this event. This number is quite good," explained Supriadi.
On this occasion, Supriadi also said that most members of Pertuni Malang City work as massage therapists. He hopes that the Malang City Government will pay attention so that Pertuni members can be more independent.
Meanwhile, Abah Anton expressed his deep appreciation for the activities held by Pertuni Malang City in order to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday. From this activity, the number one person in the Malang City Government can see directly that Pertuni members are not only good at massaging.
"I just found out that the blind member who usually massages me is also very good at playing the piano and singing. This is something extraordinary," he explained.
Abah Anton also said that this is a blessing that must be appreciated, because in the midst of all their limitations, they can still do their activities well. The Malang City Government will continue to encourage and increase attention to the blind so that they can be more independent. (cah/yon)
