Ash Rain Pours Down Malang City, BPBD Distributes Masks to Motorcyclists

Klojen, MC – Responding to the volcanic ash rain caused by the activity of Mount Bromo, the Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) distributed masks to motorcyclists around Malang City, Friday (8/1).

The Commander of the Malang City BPBD Rapid Reaction Team, Andi Agus Mardiko, revealed that the distribution of masks was in accordance with the instructions of the mayor (Malang) to follow up on the occurrence of volcanic ash rain in Malang City. There were 4.000 masks distributed to road users.

"There are three points that we are focusing on in distributing masks this time, in front of Malang City Hall, in Donoyo and on Jl. Tidar," explained Agus Demit, Andi Agus Mardiko's nickname, Friday (8/1).

From the monitoring of BPBD Malang City, Agus explained that the worst ash rain in Malang City occurred in the Tidar area. In the Tidar area, the thickness of the dust reached 0,3 millimeters, and it is estimated that ash rain in Malang City will continue.

"We will continue to monitor developments, see the existing situation, tomorrow we will distribute masks again to road users," explained Agus.

Agus appealed to people who go out of the house to wear masks and glasses so as not to get sick due to volcanic ash rain. With this activity, it is hoped that the community can be more responsive to disasters, including volcanic ash rain from Mount Bromo which is currently happening in Malang City. (cah/yon)
